Gothic III is one of the best game I ever played.
In the beginning of the story you are coming to the mid land called Myrtana from a small island where you ended up in Gothic II. Here also you have to act as a nameless hero. This main land is already captured by the Orcs and they rule the country by enslaving the human. As at the beginning of gothic II, here also you don’t have any skills (you have bit more skills than previous games). So this hero should gain skills from basics to professional level by experiences and have to do thousand of jobs to get experienced.
There are two type of quest to complete through out this game. One is short term quests and other is long term quests. Long term quest take several days to complete and you have to travel long distances to make it complete. But short term quests can be completed easily and it is less time consuming. The game is a huge game and I take one month to complete it by completing all the quest except one quest (I failed to do that ). But they made paths very clear except in the area called ” Nordmar”. You have to win the confidence of the village up to 75% and then you can meet the chief of the area.
Unlike Gothic II, the combat control is quite easy due to introduction of “one click performs one swing” system. So you can swing the sword by just clicking left mouse button (In Gothic II you have to use both mouse and keyboard together to swing the sword). The sounds of the game is excellent with a gaming head phone or sub woofers. (I used 5.1 creative sub woofers). The dialogues of the game is very clear and in very simple English that most of the people can understand. The environment totally looks like natural which comprise both indoor and outdoor features. Colour matching is great. But unfortunately sometimes the game get stuck, may be due to some technical error.
